Is it fun or way too much work?
Can you make money or just barely survive?
Are people a pain or are they really nice?
Are there a lot of rules or do you get to do whatever you want?
If you’re married, can it strengthen the marriage or kill it?

We have answers!

IT IS possible to run a profitable B&B and still have fun! But it requires :
ATTITUDE AND TRAINING

We will show you how to:

Develop a basic financial plan
Find guests and develop repeat business
Discover advertising that works
Learn about attitude and success

BUILD YOUR PROFITS!

Some highlights of the workshop include:

Ø Multimedia presentation with computers and conference call

Ø Tour of another successful bed and breakfast

Ø Dine together at the historical Deer Harbor Inn

You’ll even get the experience of planning, cooking, and serving breakfast at the Blue Heron Bed and Breakfast!

Information covered in the sessions includes searching for property, your aptitude and skills, goal setting, finances, marketing, housekeeping, policies, and customer service.

The workshop begins after dinner Friday night. A session in the morning is followed by lunch on your own and four hours of exploration of the quaint village of Eastsound and surrounding areas and touring another bed and breakfast on Orcas Island. Then back to the Blue Heron to meet other experts in the field by conference call and in person. Our morning session finishes early for those who need to catch the ferry back to the mainland or for more exploring on the island.

The cost of the workshop is $295 per person. There is a 10% discount on room rates for participants who stay at the Blue Heron for the weekend workshop.

A letter from former guests at the Blue Heron Bed and Breakfast

Dear Bogdan,

Two years ago, my girlfriend and I visited your B&B in August. My girlfriend, which is now my wife, came to stay with you on August 23, 2007. As we stayed there, we fell in love with your B and B and the hospitality that you offer. When we left on the ferry, I told my girlfriend, which is now my wife, that we were going to open a B and B in the future. We left your place and traveled around the Pacific Northwest. Upon returning to Brooklyn, New York, then starting another year of teaching in the public school system, I often thought of your B and B and places similar to yours. The fall went by while I kept thinking of the hope to open a B and B. In February of 2008, we saw an online ad for a B and B in a mountain town in the Catskills of New York. My wife and I answered the ad and went to look. As we saw that this place was not feasible, we stumbled upon a private residence for sale in a neighboring town. Come to find out, this residence was once a B and B. We bought the place in March and have been refurbishing it since then. After over 8 months of working with the help of many friends and relatives, we are opening tomorrow. Throughout the entire process, I have said that I would e-mail you the night before we open to again thank you for the hospitality and to invite you to come out and stay with us. We are located in Hunter, New York, a fourth of a mile from the ski resort. Our place has mountain views like your does of the water. Thanks again for the awesome hospitality and we would love to have you and your wife stay with us. I remember when I called to book our room, you were hiking. The Catskills feature amazing hiking and serene nature.

Thank you,

Lauren and Tim
